First Post

Creative title, no? After having several of the most important people in my live advise me that I should begin writing on a more regular basis, I decided to start up another blog. I retired my original (Dancin' Wookie, notice the lack of "The" and the "g"), a while ago, for various reasons. If you're reading this and supported me over there, thanks. You made it fun, and it still to this day boggles my mind that anybody would want to read my at times insane ramblings. You're good people, and I really appreciated your comments and discussions at the old site.

First, a little about myself: I'm a 20 year old geology student at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. I originally hail from Shelbyville, Indiana, a town of little importance to anybody not from the area. My parents divorced when I was five and I was raised most of the time my mother, who was single during most of said raising. I grew up loving dinosaurs, Batman, X-Men, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Star Trek and Star Wars, while introduced then, wouldn't become true loves (obsessions? Eh, it's a fine line in my experience) until later on. I became a sports fan watching Reggie Miller dismantle the Knicks year in and year out. My grandfather eventually turned me into a die hard Cincinnati Reds fan, and one of the more fanatical Hoosier basketball fans one will ever find.

I graduated high school in 2005 despite numerous health related set backs, and came to IU thinking I wanted to study biology. It took me two and half years to realize that I was wrong, and wanted to study geology, for numerous reasons which I'm sure I will get into at a later date. The point is, when it comes to academic/career concerns, I'm a lifelong scientist, and that always affects my rationale when writing/commentating.

Now, what should you, the loyal (and possibly nonexistent) reader expect from this particular blog out on the ol' tubes? Excellent question. I have no idea. I'll probably carry over some of the more popular things from Dancin' Wookie here, such as the Friday Tunes blog. You can expect commentary on sports that I care about (Hoosier basketball and football, Reds baseball, Pacer basketball, and Colts football), movies that I see or are excited to see, and the occasional political statement (I promise to keep them infrequent). You can also expect many long sentences with numerous parenthetical interruptions, as you've probably already noticed. Basically though, you'll see me: A foul mouthed geek with more than his fair share of issues. If nothing else, it should be entertaining in that 'train-wreck' kinda way.

Take it easy,
Cincy
